UX/UI DESIGN

I have completed an Advanced Diploma in User-Centred Design at Red & Yellow Creative School of Business. From conceptualising an idea to high-fidelity prototyping, I learned about UX research methods, ideation tools, information architecture and visual design techniques. There was a strong focus on practical application, including multiple live briefs from real-world clients, an independent study and a three-week internship. Through facing real design challenges, I was able to practise my problem-solving skills and understand how important it is to base design choices on rigorous user research.

Beyond conducting multiple usability tests on existing websites, as well as extensive user research, I also improved my visual design skills. A section of the course was dedicated to how the Gestalt Principles relate to usability, and we applied this knowledge to infographic design, as well as the re-design of a parking ticket machine, a product page for a sports retailer, a donation process for an education NGO's website and a parent-app-linked smartwatch app for kids. To ensure designs were modular, it was essential to grasp the benefits of design systems, and the usage of styles and components in Figma.

FRONTEND DEVELOPMENT

I have completed a full-stack web development course at CodeSpace. Projects included coding a resume website, a to-do app and an online store. Beyond coding from scratch using HTML, CSS and Vanilla JavaScript, I also learned how to use frontend frameworks such as Bootstrap and Vue.js, and apply responsive design techniques and object-oriented programming. I coded this portfolio website with Bootstrap.

BACKEND DEVELOPMENT

While completing a full-stack web development course at CodeSpace, I learned about backend coding principles – such as communicating with a database and creating an API – and applied them through building a user authentication app, a booking app and a full-stack online store with PHP and MySQL. This is useful background knowledge, but I'm more comfortable with design work and frontend coding.
